On October 26, 2019, a dramatic scene unfolded in the Uthiru area of Kiambu County, Kenya, where a group of furious women attacked Dr. Tatu Kamau, a FGM crusader.
According to reports, Dr. Kamau was in the midst of eight partially naked young ladies, whose genitalia had been numbed awaiting the cut when the group of irate ladies descended on her.
One heavily built woman led her allies to the scene, where they accosted Dr. Kamau, manhandled her, and clobbered her seriously.
Alleged eyewitnesses reported that the women were visibly angry about Dr. Kamau's intentions to perform FGM on them.
Dr. Kamau defended herself, saying that her request to the courts would not make the FGM mandatory, as reported in the media.
The angry women registered their fury, saying the cut would deprive them of a basic aspect of pleasure and enjoyment during copulation and naked pleasure.
They claimed that a woman's genitalia, situated in her lower faculty, acts as the primary source of pleasure during sex and works miracles in the foreplay.
One woman explained that the absence of it would mean a very difficult moment, and they vowed to mete a life lesson punishment on Dr. Kamau as a stern warning to like-minded people.
Dr. Kamau begged for mercy, confessing that she had engaged in the practice for about six years and swore never to engage in it again.
Despite her claims that the women came to her voluntarily, the group treated her with contempt and threatened to strip her naked to inspect her genitalia.
With her torn clothes, Dr. Kamau narrowly escaped death when a police siren was heard nearby, and the police are now reportedly pursuing her and the man who touched her genitalia.
