On October 25, 2019, a bizarre funeral took place in Sachang'wan estate, Nakuru County, where a 88-year-old man was buried at midnight.
According to Joel Chepkwony, the chief of Kabianga location, the deceased had declined to be buried in a casket, leaving his family with no choice but to follow his wishes.
Chepkwony explained that the family decided to bury the old man using his mattress and blanket at midnight in his farm, as per his will.
Residents of Molo were left in shock after the incident, which has left many questioning the unusual decision to hold a midnight funeral.
As reported by NTV on October 25, 2019, Chepkwony stated, 'As usual, residents of Sachang'wan normally pay their last respects to a dead person during the day, however, in this case, the family chose to fulfill Mzee's last wishes using his mattress and blanket at midnight in his farm according to his will.'
