On October 25, 2019, K24 Media published a report that sparked widespread outrage, claiming that Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i had ordered the arrest of all single mothers who were unable to explain the source of their wealth.
However, the report was later found to be false, with Wangui Muchiri, the Interior Ministry's Communications Officer, confirming that the tweet was a 'total lie.'
Wangui directed K24 Media to pull down the tweet and any related content, stating that the rumors were initiated by someone with 'bad intentions' to tarnish Matiang'i's reputation.
Following the denial, K24 Media removed the tweet, which had claimed that Matiang'i had ordered the arrest of single mothers.
Interior CS Fred Matiang'i was forced to act after the misleading report, which has since been debunked.
