On November 9, the KCB Meru Rally will bring together top rally drivers in a battle for bragging rights. The event, which has 11 competitive stages, will feature drivers such as Carl “Flash” Tundo, Baldev Chager, Onkar Rai, Manvir Baryan, and Eric Bengi.
Speaking at the event's unveiling, Clerk of the Course Hellen Shiri Kagendo emphasized the importance of safety, stating that spectators will not be allowed along the rally route but will have designated viewing points to watch the cars. To give spectators ample time to enjoy the action, the drivers will complete the competitive sections thrice.
Meru County will be represented in the rally by several local drivers, including outgoing Division One champion Eric Bengi and current Kenya National Rally Championship Division Two leaders Issa Amwari. The rally will be flagged off at Nkubu and will conclude at the ASK showground.
Preparations for the event are underway, with 550 safety marshals deployed along the route on rally day and half that number during the recce on November 8. The cars will undergo a pre-event examination at the Nkubu Heritage Hotel Gardens on November 8.
