Published on October 26, 2019, Kenya is on track to become a member of the global consulting council, the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI), also known as CMC-Global. The country is expected to be approved as a full member in about two years.

According to Reema Nasser, the executive director of ICMCI, the journey to full membership typically takes around three years. Ms Nasser emphasized the significance of the Certified Management Consultant designation, stating, “Getting the Certified Management Consultant designation is the jewel in the crown for a consultant as it confirms that you have proved to the council and to clients that you are a competent consultant.”

The Management Consultants Association of Kenya (MCAK) is seeking to be the certifying body for the management consulting profession in the country. This move is seen as a critical step for management consultants, as it will enable them to operate in other countries that are members of ICMCI.

Eric Ngala, the chair of MCAK, highlighted the importance of management consulting, saying, “Management consulting bridges the gap from working to consulting and ensures those who transition have the right network and play to the code of conduct.”
