On Sunday, October 28, 2018, chaos erupted at the Nairobi Standard Chartered marathon as competitors made a U-turn at a roundabout.
The 17th edition of the Nairobi Standard Chartered Marathon is set to kick off tomorrow at Nyayo Stadium, with over 18,000 participants expected to take part.
The event will feature six categories, including the full marathon, half marathon, 10km, 21km wheelchair race for both men and women, and the 5km Family Fun Run race.
Winners of the full marathon will pocket Sh2 million, up from Sh1.5 million, while the half marathon champions will receive Sh300,000, up from Sh200,000, for both genders.
The races will also feature a new campaign dubbed 'futuremakers', a community initiative aimed at opening opportunities for the next generation.
