Heavy rains have been pounding most of Kenya, causing widespread flooding and destruction.
Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa announced that the government has put in place measures to mitigate the effects of the floods, which have claimed at least 29 lives and displaced 11,700 people.
Wamalwa visited Wajir county and parts of the larger north Eastern region, promising consistent food and medical supplies to affected families.
He emphasized that the national government will work closely with county administrations to address the situation.
Mandera Governor Ali Roba appealed to the national government to provide financial assistance, citing the county's financial struggles due to the recent drought spell.
According to the weather forecast, heavy rains are expected to continue this weekend, with a decrease in intensity expected in December.
