Cisco Appoints Kenyan Woman as East Africa Regional Manager

On October 22, Cisco Systems appointed Sally Kimeu as its country leader and regional manager for East Africa operations, marking a significant milestone for the company in the region.

Sally Kimeu, a Moi and Strathmore universities alumnus, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as Cisco's strategic business manager for the United Nations East and Southern Africa and Egypt.

As the new regional manager, Kimeu will be tasked with boosting sales and expanding the market for the Cisco East African team in operations in 10 countries: Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Burundi, Tanzania, Somalia, Eritrea, South Sudan, and Djibouti.

According to Kimeu, East Africa offers a great opportunity for the company, and she is looking forward to the new challenge.

"I look forward to the opportunity and responsibility the new role presents. East Africa provides Cisco with a great market opportunity and I look forward to sharing Cisco’s expansive portfolio of solutions that we can offer our customers through their digitization journey," she said.

Kimeu holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Moi University and Information management systems from Strathmore University.

Her appointment comes on the heels of another significant development in the region, with Peter Ndegwa being appointed as the CEO of Safaricom, Kenya’s telco giant, effective April 1, 2020.
