Martha Wangari, the Member of Parliament for Gilgil, has been at the center of a controversy surrounding her alleged marriage to Peter Karanja, a suspect in the murder of Tob Cohen.

According to reports, Martha and Karanja separated over a year ago after she accused him of violence, stinginess, adultery, alcoholism, and desertion.

However, Karanja allegedly told the court that he is still married to the MP and would be living in a property in Gilgil, which he claimed to be his.

Martha Wangari has since denied these claims, stating in court papers that she and Karanja have no marriage relationship and that the Gilgil home he claimed to be his is actually hers.

The Gilgil home is subject to several court cases on ownership, and Martha Wangari suggested that Karanja could reside in another home he owns in Gem within Gilgil.

Justice Daniel Ogembo, who was hearing an application for bail from Karanja, further declared Martha Wangari a stranger to the proceedings of Karanja's case.

The MP had applied to be enjoined in the case to issue statements on Karanja's character, but her application was rejected.

Justice Ogembo will decide on Karanja's bail on October 29.
