On October 24, 2019, police in Nairobi discovered the decomposing body of 13-year-old Emmanuel Solomon Inyama in the home of University of Nairobi lecturer Ann Inyama in the South B estate.

Ann Inyama, who was found hiding in the house at Kifaru Apartments, has been detained for 10 days at the Industrial Area police station following a court order.

According to an affidavit filed by Detective Dickens Ondingo at the Makadara law courts, Inyama will be held to assist in investigations into the death of her son.

Police visited Inyama's house after caretaker Stephen Mwangi reported a foul smell emanating from the house, which was locked from the inside.

Once the investigation is complete, Inyama will be charged with murder, according to Detective Ondingo.

She is expected back in court on November 5, 2019.
