Uganda President Yoweri Museveni Gifts Joshua Cheptegei Brand New Car ¶
Uganda President Yoweri Museveni has decided to make the heroics of IAAF World Athlete and Commonwealth Gold Medalist Joshua Cheptegei worthwhile by gifting him a brand new car.
On October 25, 2019, Cheptegei won the men's 10,000 meters world title in Doha, Qatar, in stunning fashion, gaining him worldwide recognition.
According to reports, the car gift was delivered to Cheptegei by State House Sports Officer Norah Nassimbwa at State House, Nakasero.
Notably, Cheptegei clocked his best time ever in history after clocking in at 26 minutes 48.36 seconds.
President Museveni recognized Cheptegei's contribution in Uganda athletics by gifting him a car, which is a significant gesture of appreciation for his outstanding achievements.
Cheptegei was also nominated for the annual IAAF Male Athlete of the Year Award, another first in Uganda.
He will come up against the likes of Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge, who smashed the INEOS 1:59 challenge on October 12.
The winner of the IAAF Male Athlete of the Year will be announced on November 23 at the World Athletics Awards in Monaco, France.
