On a Friday evening in October 2019, audiences gathered to watch the premiere of Back to Basics' radical production, 'Man Moments.'

Devised by Mbeki Mwalimu and her B2B company, the play was scripted and directed by Nick Ndeda, a man best known as an actor and radio host.

The play makes fun of men's frailties and reveals women's unnerving capacity to be unabashed in saying what they think, irrespective of whether they offend men or not.

Directed by Nick Ndeda, the play features a talented cast, including Ian Mbugua, Wakio Nzenge, Auudi Rowa, and Mwikali Mary.

The play's surrealistic moments include a scene where the unfaithful spouse transforms into a hungry wolf who stalks and gets stabbed by his prey, the wife, who had a motive for murdering her man but also seemed to act in self-defence.

Another surreal bit is the futuristic interlude between acts one and two, which is apparently a metaphor for the core concern of the play, namely the nature of true manliness.

Staged with heaps of humour, the play was still a scene too deep to be an interlude and needs to become a whole play.
