Phyllis Ngirita's Moment of Humility in Court ¶
On October 24, 2019, Phyllis Ngirita, a key figure in the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal, appeared before Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku in a dramatic turn of events.
Ngirita, who had been accused of tax evasion, denied four counts of failing to pay taxes amounting to Ksh. 20.7 million. She claimed to be financially strained, with millions of responsibilities weighing heavily on her.
Ngirita's financial success story began when she started trading as Njewanga Enterprises, which won numerous supplies tenders worth millions from the NYS within a year.
