Kenya Hockey Union women's Premier League leaders Blazers will have a weekend off, but their closest challengers, USIU-Africa, will be in action at City Park Stadium on Saturday.
USIU-Africa, who were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Yusuf Memorial Hockey Festival last weekend, will face Jomo Kenyatta University Agricultural Technology in a bid to close the gap on the leaders.
According to USIU-Africa coach Willis Okeyo, the team's performance is not gauged by tournament results. 'The match against JKUAT has always been a derby, but we won against them in the first leg (3-0) and we hope to build on that win during the Saturday's match,' Okeyo said.
USIU-Africa will then face arch-rivals Strathmore University on Sunday, with Strathmore looking to make the most of their triumph in the Mombasa event, where they beat Technical University of Kenya (TUK) in the final.
Strathmore coach Meshack Senge expressed confidence in his team's ability to give a good account of themselves. 'We will give a good account of ourselves,' Senge said.
On Sunday, leaders Butali Sugar Warriors will have a chance to extend their unbeaten run when they play Sailors in the men's premier League at City Park Stadium.
