China's Tech Giant Unveils Latest Wearables

On October 25, 2019, Huawei took the wraps off its latest wearables, the Huawei Band 4 and the Huawei VR Glass, at its 5G conference in Shenzhen, China.

The Huawei Band 4 is an upgrade over the company's older fitness trackers, featuring a 0.96-inch TFT color display, an Apollo 3 SoC, and a range of sensors, including a three-axis accelerometer, infrared sensor, and an optical heart rate sensor.

The band offers various fitness tracking features, such as monitoring heart rate and sleep quality, as well as notifications of new messages and phone calls directly from the connected smartphone.

The Huawei Band 4 is priced at CNY 199 ($30/€25) in China and will go on sale from November 1. It is already available for purchase in Indonesia and Thailand for IDR449,000 ($32/€30) and THB999 ($35/€30), respectively.

On the other hand, the Huawei VR Glass is a virtual reality headset that provides a 3200×1600 pixels screen resolution with up to 1058PPI pixel density and a 90-degree field-of-view. It is priced at $424 and will be available on sale from December this year in China.

With the launch of these wearables, Huawei is set to take on the likes of Oculus, HTC, and Sony in the VR headset market.
