On October 23, 2019, a significant development took place in the fight against terrorism in the region. Police in Somalia handed over two suspected members of the terror group Al-Shabaab to Kenyan authorities.
According to North Eastern Police Commander Mr. Paul Soi, the two suspects were believed to have fled into Somalia after committing crimes in Kenya. They were handed over on Wednesday, and taken to Garissa for further interrogation.
During the handover, police reports stated that the suspects were found with several loaded firearms, which were confiscated by the authorities.
When asked about the ongoing investigations, Mr. Soi said, "Investigations are ongoing. We shall address the media later," on Thursday.
