Kenya's e-commerce landscape is set to receive a significant boost following a renewed partnership between Jumia and the Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK). The deal, announced on October 25, 2019, aims to increase access to pick-up stations in underserved areas, ultimately reducing delivery fees for customers.

According to Jumia Kenya CEO Sam Chappatte, the expanded pick-up station network will enhance customer confidence and adoption of e-commerce nationwide. 'There are large parts of the country that are underserved today. They lack convenient & low-cost access to pick-up stations. We continue to see increased demand from areas like Eldoret, Mombasa, Kisumu, and Nakuru, and surprisingly even as far as Lokichogio in Turkana,' Chappatte said.

As part of the partnership, customers will have the option to pick up products from a Post Office closest to them during the checkout process. The products will be dispatched to the selected office for collection.

Postmaster General & CEO of The Postal Corporation Of Kenya, Dan Kagwe, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, 'e-Commerce has witnessed an upward trajectory over the last decade, and we are happy to be part of the change. We would like to assure all customers of quality service on all their Jumia orders and they can also access other services that Posta Kenya offers.'

The announcement comes ahead of Jumia's Black Friday, which starts on November 8th and runs until November 29th. This year's theme is the 'Biggest Save of the Year,' with discounts of up to 90% on 10 million products across all categories.
