On October 25, 2019, Hannah Khagulani Inyama, a University of Nairobi lecturer, was arrested and taken into police custody after her son's decomposing body was discovered in their home.
According to reports, Emmanuel Inyama died on Saturday and was left in the house for nearly six days before the caretaker, Stephen Mwangi, called the police.
Residents of Kifaru Front Apartments claimed that Hannah was behaving strangely in the days leading up to her son's discovery.
They reported hearing praise and jubilation coming from her apartment around the time when Emmanuel was lying dead on the sitting room floor.
Stephen Mwangi, the caretaker, described Hannah as a good and polite neighbour who was even jovial with her son, who used to ride his bike in the estate.
"Alikuwa mtu wa kusalimia watu na kuishi vizuri na watu na hata huyo mtoto wake alikuwa anachezanga hapa na baiskeli (She was a good and polite neighbour even the child was jovial and used to ride his bike here in the estate)," Mwangi told the media.
