October 25, 2019 - Google has been continuously improving its Messages app, and the latest update, version 5.2, brings a much-needed feature: reminders for messages.
Many of us have experienced the frustration of receiving a message that requires a response, but we forget to act on it until the notification is gone. To address this issue, Google Messages 5.2 introduces a new option in message notifications: 'Set Reminder.'
Once you get Google Messages 5.2, you'll find a new button next to 'Mark as read' and 'Reply.' By tapping on 'Set Reminder,' you can schedule a reminder for one hour, the next morning, noon, or night, or pick a specific date and time. The reminder can be edited or removed by opening the conversation.
When the set time arrives, you'll receive a new notification with the last message received in the chat. You can still snooze the reminder for another hour by tapping to open it.
This feature is currently rolling out on the Play Store, but you can sign up for Beta updates to Google Messages directly from the Play Store listing or on the web.
