On October 24, 2019, police in Nairobi's South B area responded to a distress call after neighbors reported a foul smell emanating from a house in Kifaru Estate.
Upon arrival, officers found the decomposing body of a 13-year-old boy wrapped in a blanket inside the house belonging to Anna Khahugan, a nursing lecturer at the University of Nairobi.
Police Commander Philip Ndolo stated that Ms. Anna was found hiding in the kitchen after officers broke down the door and entered the house.
Ms. Anna reportedly told police that her son fell ill in the house but her religious beliefs do not allow them to seek medical treatment.
She is currently being held at Industrial Area Police Station as investigations into the death of the boy continue.
