On October 24, 2019, Safaricom PLC announced the appointment of Peter Ndegwa as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective April 1, 2019.
Ndegwa takes over from acting CEO Michael Joseph, who had returned to the CEO post following the death of Bob Collymore.
Before joining Safaricom PLC, Ndegwa served as Managing Director of Diageo Continental Europe.
Safaricom Chairman Nicholas Ng'ang'a praised Ndegwa's extensive experience in General Management, Commercial and Business Strategy, Sales and Finance Operations.
According to Safaricom PLC, Ndegwa will carry on the company's vision of transforming lives while meeting customer needs and upholding its commitment to being simple, transparent, and honest.
