On October 23, 2019, the football world lost a legend when Duncan Forbes, a former Scottish professional footballer, passed away after years of battling with Alzheimer's disease.
Forbes, who spent 33 years at Norwich City, was part of the side that won the 1971-72 Second Division title and earned promotion to the top flight.
He joined Norwich City in 1968 and went on to play 357 games for the club before hanging up his boots.
Forbes also captained Norwich City twice in League Cup finals at Wembley, but unfortunately, both ended in defeat against Tottenham in 1973 and Aston Villa in 1975.
As Norwich City announced in a statement, 'He was the backbone of our defence for many years. Unrelenting in the tackle and an inspiration to the rest of the team whom he would call out in a voice that could be heard way outside the ground.'
They also added, 'City to the core, and one of the nicest men you could hope to meet, Duncan will be sorely missed by the club, but his legacy will forever live on.'
