On October 24, 2019, police stormed the house of University of Nairobi lecturer Ann Kahughan in Nairobi's South B estate, following a report of an intoxicating smell coming from the residence.
Upon entering the house, officers found the decomposing body of Kahughan's 13-year-old son wrapped in a blanket in the sitting room.
Ann Kahughan was arrested at the scene, reportedly while still in the house.
The cause of the boy's death remains unclear, with reports suggesting that Kahughan claimed her son had fallen and died in the house.
