Marcel Desailly to Alert FIFA Over Controversial Offside Call

Former Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly has revealed his plan to alert FIFA over a disputed offside call that led to Ajax's goal being disallowed against Chelsea in a Champions League match.

On October 23, 2019, Ajax hosted Chelsea for a crucial Champions League group clash at the Amsterdam Arena.

Quincy Promes appeared to have scored the opener for Ajax, but his goal was disallowed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) after a review.

Michy Batshuayi eventually scored the only goal of the match in the 86th minute, securing a vital win for Chelsea and turning around their Champions League campaign.

Desailly, who is an ambassador for FIFA, has expressed his intention to show the governing body the disputed offside call, citing an issue with the distance between the ball and the player's feet.

"They use the technology on the rhythm of the slow motion, they did not take the time to really stop and take a look at the line and the distance of the ball from the feet of the player also," Desailly said.

Desailly's intention to alert FIFA over the disputed offside call has sparked debate among football fans and experts, with some questioning the accuracy of the VAR decision.
