Kenya Scholar Access Program (KenSAP) has selected 21 students, including the 2018 KCSE top candidate Juliet Otieno, to be airlifted to top American universities in August 2020.

These students, who sat their exams last year, managed an average score of 81 points, a grade A plain.

Since its inception 14 years ago, KenSAP has helped 197 students gain admission to elite universities in the United States and Canada, with more than 80 of them attending Ivy League universities.

With an annual budget of Ksh.15 million, KenSAP has generated over Ksh.5 billion in financial aid packages since 2005, granted by the universities that KenSAP Scholars attend.

According to Juliet Otieno, who topped the 2018 KCSE exams with an A plain of 87.66 points, the KenSAP community established in the USA has made her feel confident about attending an American University.

Speaking at the fundraising dinner, KenSAP's Executive Director Alan Davidson said the funds have enabled at least 15 to 20 deserving Kenyan students selected annually to gain admission to the most selective universities in the United States and Canada.

KenSAP has also opened its doors to students living in Kenya who hail from Tanzania, Rwanda, Somalia, and South Sudan.

As a result of KenSAP, Kenyan undergraduates now outnumber those of any other African country on the said university campuses, setting Kenya up to play a leading role in African development in coming decades.
