Published on October 24, 2019, Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen took aim at COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli for his lavish spending habits.
Atwoli had recently appeared on live TV, where he carelessly shattered a Ksh. 170,000 iPhone 11 Max, sparking widespread outrage and ridicule online.
Responding to the incident, Murkomen urged the public to remain calm, pointing out that they were the ones who ultimately footed the bill for such extravagant expenses.
"What are you complaining about? Workers will pay for it," Murkomen said, further criticizing Atwoli for being a senior citizen who had been spoiled by public funds.
Atwoli's actions had left many questioning how he could afford to treat such an expensive gadget so callously, with some speculating that he was indeed very wealthy.
