Published on October 24, 2019, Arsenal boss Unai Emery has been under fire from fans following the team's 1-0 shock defeat to Sheffield United on October 21.
Emery's tenure at the club has been marred by criticism from supporters, who claim the team has witnessed a massive decline under the Spaniard.
However, Emery is adamant that the team has made significant progress under his leadership, citing improvements in creativity and competitiveness.
"We need to remember what things were like when I arrived here because some people seem to have forgotten," Emery said in a statement.
"This team in its history won many times 1-0 and was very competitive — but that wasn’t enough for some supporters. So then they changed the process and they improved the creativity and when I arrived here that aspect was more or less good," he continued.
Emery further defended his tactics and squad selection, urging club supporters to stay patient in his rebuilding process.
