October 24, 2019, marked two months since President Uhuru Kenyatta assured the nation that no national team would ever be stranded while representing the country.

However, the Kenya women's netball team has found themselves in a similar predicament, stranded in Cape Town, South Africa, after the Sports Ministry allegedly failed to pay for their accommodation.

The team, which represented Kenya at the 2019 Africa Netball Championship, has been in South Africa since October 18, 2019, and has been forced to sleep on airport floors due to the lack of accommodation.

A Cameroonian well-wisher has come to their aid, providing them with milk and bread and offering alternative accommodation.

The incident is a stark contrast to President Kenyatta's assurance that no national team would ever be stranded while representing the country.

Just two months prior, the President had offered to buy air tickets for the Gor Mahia team worth Ksh. 6 million after they were stranded at the Doha International Airport.

The Senate Committee responsible for sports has announced that it will investigate the matter and recommend appropriate action.
