On October 24, 2019, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) made an unusual request to the Court, urging it to imprison private investigator Jane Mugo at the Langata Women's Prison for her own safety.

Mugo, known as the 'Spy Queen' for her high-profile investigations, had previously sought state protection after receiving death threats from investigating officers in a case she was accused of threatening to kill.

As part of her expose, 'Westlands Underworld', Mugo had been investigating a series of crimes, including impersonation, robbery with violence, and threatening to kill.

However, a warrant of arrest was issued against Mugo after she failed to appear in Court for a scheduled session, leading to her being accused of these crimes.

Mugo denied all charges and was released on a Ksh. 500,000 bond. Her case is set to be heard on November 6, 2019.
