Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rains across the country until Monday, October 28, 2019, which may trigger potential floods.
Residents in areas such as Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, and parts of Tana River, Lamu, Nairobi, Nyeri, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Murang’a, Embu, Meru, Kirinyaga, Tharaka Nithi, Kitui, Taita Taveta, Busia, Kisii, and Nyamira are advised to be cautious of the heavy rainfall.
Additionally, areas such as Kericho, Bomet, Nakuru, Baringo, Narok, Migori, Nandi, West Pokot, Southern Turkana, Samburu, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Vihiga, Bungoma, Homa Bay, Kisumu, Siaya, Kakamega, Isiolo, Garissa, Marsabit, Mandera, and Wajir are also expected to experience heavy rainfall.
Members of the public have been urged to avoid driving through or walking in moving water or open fields and not to shelter under trees and near grilled windows to avoid exposure to lightning strikes.
Heavy rains were experienced in Nairobi on Wednesday night, causing flooding on some roads.
