On October 24, 2019, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) made a significant seizure in Githurai, Kimbo, Kiambu County, recovering Sh102 million in fake Euros.

According to the DCI, the operation was an intelligence-led effort, and the detectives were able to impound the fake money in a house where three women, Rose Wambui, Mary Muthoni, and Tabitha Muhuha, were found in possession of it.

The detectives searched the house and discovered a strongly locked safe box, which they later unlocked to find the fake money in 100 denominations.

"Over KSH 102 million in fake euros was early today impounded at a house in Githurai Kimbo, Kiambu County by #DCI Detectives based at Ruiru in a resolute intelligence-led operation," read part of a statement by the DCI.

The three women are currently in custody and are assisting with further investigations.
