On October 24, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived in Sochi, Russia, for the inaugural Russia-Africa Summit, a historic gathering of over 40 Heads of State and Government.
Having attended the enthronement ceremony of Emperor Naruhito in Japan, President Kenyatta was accompanied by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and Cabinet Secretary Amb Monica Juma, among other senior government officials.
On the sidelines of the Summit, the President will hold bilateral talks with his host President Vladimir Putin, with a focus on strengthening Kenya's bilateral ties with Russia, particularly in the areas of health, affordable housing, food security, and manufacturing.
Upon arrival, President Kenyatta was received at Sochi International Airport by senior Russian Government officials and the Kenyan Chargé D'Affaires, (a.i) in Moscow, Ms. Winnie Mwanjala.
