On October 24, 2019, Chief Justice David Maraga suspended Magistrate Brian Khaemba following an order he issued barring detectives from arresting Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu.
Private detective Jane Mugo, who has sought the court's protection following claims of death threats, has been represented by Khaemba in a criminal case.
According to an affidavit filed by Mugo, she has been receiving threatening calls and letters since 2014, despite reporting the incidents to relevant authorities.
Her lawyers, including Khaemba and Dunstan Omari, urged the court to take judicial notice of the threats and to enhance Mugo's security.
Omari stated that Mugo has worked as a police informer for 15 years and understands the operations, but is now in danger due to the threats.
Following the suspension, Khaemba opted to resign from the bench and has since joined private practice at Musyoki Mogaka Company Advocates.
