President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga's reconciliation last year has been a subject of interest in Kenyan politics. The two leaders have since been working closely, with their next move being the official reception of the Building Bridges Initiative report.
However, a section of social media users had claimed that Raila Odinga turned down an invitation to lunch with President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House Mombasa after the Mashujaa Day celebration. They also alleged that Odinga was initially denied access to the President at State House.
Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale had shared one of the messages, suggesting that if Odinga was indeed snubbed, President Uhuru Kenyatta could surprise many in 2022.
But Raila's aide Silas Jakakimba has dismissed the reports, insisting that Odinga was not at any time denied audience with the President at State House.
According to Jakakimba, Odinga had lunch with President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto after the Mashujaa Day celebration in State House.
"The 'Restricted Official Programme' for any State Function is prepared in advance by State House, not Army-complete with Speakers – the President, DP & maybe 1 more, a host Governor. RailaOdinga had lunch with Pres. Kenyatta, DP Ruto & @skmusyoka after the event," he said.
