Published on October 24, 2019, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship has attracted top players from Uganda and Tanzania, in addition to the country's top amateurs.
Leading the Ugandan contingent is national team captain Joseph Chinywaai, accompanied by Jakisa Emmanuel, Burhan Matovu, and Moko Emmanuel.
From Tanzania, Victor Joseph, Ally Isanzu, and Godfrey Daniel will be representing their country.
Kenya's Samuel Njoroge, the defending champion and national team captain, will lead the local attack. Currently playing off a plus three handicap, Njoroge is the lowest in the country and will face stiff competition from his colleague Simon Njogu and top juniors Mutahi Kibugu and Zubair Khan.
Former national champion William Odera of Golf Park and top junior Taimur Malik from Muthaiga will also be in the running.
The winner of the championship will qualify to play in the 2020 Magical Kenya Open, a European Tour series tournament to be held at Karen Country Club from March 12 to 15.
Kenya Golf Union vice-chairman Ben Omuodo expressed his happiness at receiving entries from other countries.
