On Wednesday, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested three women with fake Euros worth Ksh.102 million in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

The suspects, Rose Wambui, Mary Muthoni, and Tabitha Muhuha, were arrested in an intelligence-led operation at a house in Githurai Kimbo.

According to the DCI, the fake currency, valued at over 880,090 Euros in 100 denominations, was found in a strongly locked safe box in the house.

"A thorough search in the house occupied by the three ladies led the detectives to a suspicious strongly locked Safe Box. They managed to unlock it later & found the over 880,090 Euros (fake) in 100 denominations," said the DCI in a statement.

Just hours before, four suspects were arrested in Ruiru following a botched robbery attempt at a Barclays Bank ATM.
