On October 23, 2019, a tragic incident occurred at Cardinal Otunga Girls High School in Bungoma County, where a Form One student took her own life.

The student, who was caught altering her exam results, was publicly humiliated by the deputy principal during a school parade.

According to reports, the student had filled in a fresh exam paper and awarded herself a score of 93 percent, before placing it in the staff room where other exam sheets were kept.

After her deceit was discovered, the student was called out in front of her peers and scolded for her actions.

Tragically, the student was later found dead in the dormitory, with a bed sheet tied around her neck.

The school administration declined to comment on the matter, citing the absence of the principal.

The body of the deceased was moved to the Bungoma County Referral Hospital.
