The 2019 Kenya Open Amateur Stroke play Championship, a 72-hole event, is set to take place at the Thika Greens Golf Resort from Thursday, October 24, 2019, marking 41 years since the Kenyatta Memorial Bowl was presented by Colonel Mike Harbage and Chris Kahara in 1978.

The event, which is the only one of its kind in the country, has attracted players from Uganda and Tanzania, including Uganda's national team captain Joseph Chinywaai and Tanzania's leading amateur Victor Joseph.

Kenya's top amateurs, including Samuel Njoroge, the national team captain and defending champion, will also be competing for the prestigious trophy.

Currently playing off a plus three handicap, Njoroge will be challenged by his colleagues in the national team, including Simon Njogu, and the country's top two juniors, Mutahi Kibugu and Zubair Khan.

The winner of the event will automatically qualify to play in the 2020 Magical Kenya Open, a European Tour series event to be held at Karen Country Club from March 12 to 15.
