On October 23, 2019, the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) advisory task force, formed following the March 9, 2018 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, concluded its assignment.

The team, under the chairmanship of Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji, had been working to resolve 9 key issues: ethnic antagonism, lack of national ethos, inclusivity, devolution, divisive elections, security, corruption, shared prosperity, and responsibility.

According to a statement by the BBI task force, the report has been finalised and is ready for submission to President Kenyatta 'at the first available opportunity.'

Joint Secretaries Amb. Martin Kimani and Mr. Paul Mwangi communicated to the Office of the President that the Building Bridges Initiative report is ready for a handing over to H.E the President.

The report, which takes into account the views of Kenyans from all walks of life in all 47 counties, testimonies, and petitions from professional bodies, constitutional commissions, civil society organizations, religious leaders, and associations, business associations, and business leaders, and elected leaders, is expected to be a basis of 'positive and far-reaching change' that Kenyans urgently need.

The team believes that Kenyans can utilize this auspicious moment to build the bonds between them and that will become a strong foundation for an inclusive, fair, and prosperous nation.
