Published on October 23, 2019, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has rescheduled the highly anticipated Clasico match between Barcelona and Real Madrid for December 18.

The original match was set to take place on Saturday, but was postponed due to extraordinary circumstances in Catalonia, where protesters have taken to the streets following the jailing of nine Catalan separatist leaders.

La Liga, however, is unhappy with the new date and is considering taking legal action against the RFEF. In a statement, La Liga expressed its disagreement with the RFEF's decision, stating that it had reached an agreement with both clubs to play the match on a different date.

La Liga is now studying the documentation surrounding the RFEF's decision and is evaluating the possibility of taking legal action against the relevant authorities.

“La Liga doesn’t agree with the Competition Committee’s decision to stipulate Dec. 18 – after an agreement was reached between Barcelona and Real Madrid, despite La Liga’s objections – as the date in which the postponed Clasico should be played,” La Liga said in a statement.

“We are studying the documentation that we have recently received regarding the process in which the decision was taken. This is in order to evaluate taking possible legal action and against whom it should be tabled, before the relevant and opportune public organisations or legal organisms.”
