On October 23, 2019, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) secured a hard-fought 58-57 win over JKL Dolphines from Uganda in the Africa Zone Five women's club basketball tournament.
This victory propelled KPA into the semi-finals, while Equity Bank also secured a spot after clobbering hosts Don Bosco 80-47 in a decisive Group 'B' match.
The tournament has been marred by poor organisation, with games delayed due to unavailability of the Dar es Salaam indoor courts, which are also hosting a karate championship.
KPA coach Mike Opel expressed disappointment with his team's performance, citing poor defensive play and turnovers.
"It is good that we won, but we were very poor defensively, and our rotation was poor with lots of turnovers among other things that we must correct to make an impression," Opel said.
