On October 23, 2019, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) made a significant seizure in Githurai, Kimbo, Kiambu County. They recovered fake Euros worth Sh102 million, a substantial amount of counterfeit currency.

The operation, led by detectives based at Ruiru, was the result of intelligence gathering. The team searched a house in the area and found three women, Rose Wambui, Mary Muthoni, and Tabitha Muhuha, in possession of the fake money.

According to the DCI, the women led the detectives to a strongly locked safe box, which was later unlocked. Inside, the team found the fake Euros in 100 denominations.

The seized money has been secured and kept as an exhibit, pending further investigations. The three women are currently in custody, assisting the detectives with their inquiries.
