Shuttered Dreams: A Law Graduate's Fight Against Misdiagnosis ¶
A graduate of Moi University School of Law from Kiptere, Kericho County, shares a heartbreaking story of being misdiagnosed at Tenwek Hospital, which led to a series of painful health issues and a struggle to regain his health and career.
According to the graduate, his dream of becoming an advocate of the high court should have been a reality by now. However, a series of painful headaches started in 2014, which were initially misdiagnosed as typhoid and migraines.
After being given various medications, the graduate was eventually diagnosed with a tumor by Dr. F. Koech, a neurosurgeon at St. Luke Hospital in Eldoret. He underwent his first surgery in 2014 and was later treated with warfarin for a year and two months to address a vascular thrombosis.
Despite the treatment, the tumor recurred, and the graduate underwent a second surgery in November 2018, followed by radiation therapy. He also developed diabetes due to the steroids used during treatment and was put on mixtard insulin to control his glucose levels.
However, the tumor still persists, and the graduate's doctors have advised him to undergo a special procedure in India to permanently remove the tumor. He is seeking help to raise KSh 4 million to cover the costs of the treatment.
With tears in his eyes, the graduate appeals to his countrymen to help him raise the funds and support him in his fight against the tumor. He is confident that with their help and prayers, he will be able to regain his health and pursue his dream of becoming a lawyer.
He has set up a Paybill number, 281307, for those who wish to contribute to his treatment.
