On October 23, 2019, Safaricom announced a new initiative to offer users a bonus for calling and SMS every time they purchase airtime, as part of their 'Simple, Transparent and Honest' plan.
The telco stated that users will receive 50% extra airtime, which can be used to call and text across all networks.
To activate the new plan, users can dial 544# on their handset, select Voice from the menu, enter the amount they wish to spend, select their preferred mode of payment (airtime or M-PESA), and receive a message with details of their purchase.
However, Safaricom notes that the voice plan is not transferable and cannot be used for international calls.
According to Safaricom PLC (@SafaricomPLC), 'For calls and SMS, we are offering 50 per cent extra airtime, which can be used to call and text across all networks.'
