On October 14, 2019, Injini accelerator, a South African-based EdTech incubator of the Cape Innovation & Technology Initiative (CiTi), opened applications for its fourth cohort. The deadline for applications was set for December 10, 2019.
Through its partnership with the UBS Optimus Foundation, the Southern Africa Innovation Support Programme (SAIS), and the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, Injini will support up to eight high-potential EdTech startups with financial and bespoke advisory resources.
Selected ventures will receive R100,000 in grant funding, dispersed in three tranches, and be eligible for follow-on equity investment of up to R1 million by Injini.
Participating EdTech startups will have the opportunity to live and work in Cape Town, South Africa, during the incubation programme, with international travel and accommodation, along with a living stipend, covered for up to two members from each team.
‘We are so excited to begin this journey in selecting our next cohort of EdTech startups. We’re honoured to have the opportunity to support even more entrepreneurs in unlocking Africa’s potential with their innovations in education,’ says Krista Davidson, Head of Operations at Injini.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with a final screening round taking place telephonically during the first two weeks of January 2020. The top 12 startups will be invited to pitch to a panel of judges at the Injini Selection Day at the end of January.
