Published on October 23, 2019, Manchester United has taken a strong stance against racism by indefinitely banning a fan who allegedly directed racist abuse at a Liverpool player during a Premier League match.
The fan, who was identified as targeting Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, was ejected by United stewards in the first half of the game.
According to a statement from the club, the fan can appeal against the ruling.
Manchester United has made it clear that racism and all forms of discrimination are completely unacceptable and do not reflect the values of the club.
The Premier League has also launched a campaign called No Room for Racism, urging fans to report abuse at matches.
Incidents of alleged racist abuse have been reported at several soccer games in Britain over the weekend, including an FA Cup match between Haringey Borough and Yeovil Town, which was abandoned due to reports of fans racially abusing Haringey's players.
