On October 23, 2019, the Employment and Labour Relations Court suspended the appointment of Mary Wambui as the Chairperson of National Employment Authority.
The court's decision was made in response to a case filed by the young parliamentarians Association, which argued that Wambui was not competent to hold the position due to her limited education background.
The petition also claimed that the appointment went against section 10(2) of the National Employment Authority Act, which requires one to have at least 7 years experience at human resource management level.
Lady Justice Hellen Wasilwa shelved the appointment pending the hearing and determination of the case.
