On Monday, a form three student tragically lost her life during a lunch break at a school in Mlolongo, Machakos County.
According to eyewitnesses, the student was with her friends when she suddenly collapsed and fell.
Education Director Athi River subcounty, Zipporah Kawira, confirmed that the student had no prior health problems.
The school's matron and teacher on duty rushed her to Katani dispensary, where they attempted to resuscitate her, but unfortunately, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Speaking on the incident, Education Director Zipporah Kawira said, "It's unfortunate that today we have lost a student. She was okay and was even playing with her friends. She suddenly collapsed and that's when the matron and teacher on duty rushed her to a local facility."
Confirming the incident, Athi River deputy county commissioner David Juma, stated that the student's body was moved to Kenyatta University Mortuary pending a postmortem in Nairobi.
