On October 23, 2019, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Electoral Board will conduct a nomination exercise for the top seat in Kenyan football, but several candidates have expressed concerns about the election's credibility.

Outgoing president Nick Mwendwa has expressed confidence in the board's ability to conduct a credible election, stating, 'I have faith in the board to conduct a credible election.'

However, his rivals, including Moses Akaranga, Steve Mburu, and Alex Ole Magelo, have threatened to boycott the nominations, citing concerns about the election's fairness.

Akaranga, a former Vihiga Governor, has written protest letters to the Electoral Board's chairman, Prof Edwin Wamukoya, and the Sports Registrar, Rose Wasike, urging them to halt the exercise.

Mburu has also stated that he and his fellow candidates have agreed not to participate, citing the need for an elaborate plan to fix the ailing football industry in Kenya.
