On August 5, a violent altercation broke out at Home Point Club in Kware, Embakasi, Nairobi, between patrons who disagreed over two boiled eggs.

According to reports, the dispute began when Benjamin Barasa bought an egg each for his brother Shadrack and their cousin, but other patrons confronted them for excluding them.

A fight ensued, and Shadrack and some other patrons were kicked out by the club's bouncer, William Otieno Otundo, for being unruly. However, Benjamin Barasa was left behind.

Later that night, Otundo allegedly accosted Barasa, grabbed him, and smashed him against a wall, causing injuries to his leg and abdomen.

Barasa was treated at a clinic and returned home to recuperate but developed complications and later died while being transferred from Kimaiti Hospital to Bungoma referral hospital on September 23.

William Otieno Otundo was arrested on September 29 for threatening the club owner and later rearrested to face manslaughter charges.

During his court appearance before senior principal magistrate Angelo Kithinji of Makadara Law Courts, Otundo denied the charges.

He was released on a Sh500,000 bond without an option for cash bail, with the hearing of the matter set to start on February 27, next year.
